Defect Description

Harley Safety Recall 0171: 2008–2011 VRSC V-Rod models equipped with ABS may experience valve sticking in Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) if DOT 4 brake fluid is not flushed periodically.

Safety Hazard / Consequence

Stuck valve can lead to diminished front or rear braking capacity, increasing stopping distance.

Factory Remedy & Repair Action

Dealers cycle ABS HCU solenoids using Digital Technician II and flush system with genuine DOT 4 Platinum fluid.
