The SM7 Cast Helmet utilizes a high-performance multi-layer composite shell engineered specifically for the rigors of off-road racing. By blending fiberglass, carbon, and aramid fibers, Alpinestars achieves an optimal balance of impact protection, force dissipation, and sliding performance that exceeds standard monocoque designs. The aerodynamic profile is deliberately streamlined to eliminate external channels or load points that could compromise structural integrity during a crash, while the precise shell curvature is calculated to reduce friction on impact, promoting efficient energy deflection away from the rider’s head and toward the neck and spinal column.
Thermal regulation and fit customization are maximized through an ultra-ventilated architecture featuring twenty individual airflow ports. With thirteen dedicated intakes and seven exhausts, the helmet ensures continuous air circulation to manage heat buildup during high-intensity enduro or motocross sessions. The interior fit is further refined by the A-Head Fitment system, which allows for height-adjustable top pads, while the cheek pads utilize 3D foam with an emergency extraction system and integrated hydration channels; these pads are interchangeable across all shell sizes, ensuring a precise, personalized fit without the need for multiple helmet units.
Impact safety is reinforced by the Visor Detaching System and strategically placed PLASMA technology for critical zone protection. The visor is engineered to automatically detach when subjected to impact energy exceeding fifteen Joules, eliminating the inherent weaknesses of traditional anchoring systems and preventing secondary injury to the jaw and neck. Additionally, PLASMA technology is integrated into the lower side shell edges to provide superior shock absorption in the collarbone area, while the elastically connected crown and neck pads enhance oblique impact management, ensuring comprehensive protection that meets ECE06 and DOT standards.
